More eloquent reviewers said it better, but this show has the capacity to change your life if you let it (as will any superb story). Review written by an adult who still finds new things to love with each re-watch. Highly recommend, obviously.

I'm so in love with this show that I'm still following the story in their comic book graphic novels for both the last airbender & legend of korra!! I give it a full 5 🌟's without thinking half a second

  • An Incredible Impact

I began watching Avatar when it first aired on TV in 2005; I was 6 years old at the time. And it was an incredible journey for me as a child. This show, I think, is one of the best influences a child can have at that age. Avatar taught and introduced me to so many ideas, cultures, and concepts. It taught me that there is compassion and bravery thriving inside many people. It taught me that those deemed as evil can redeem themselves. It taught me that loss is natural and it can be overcome through strength and optimism and courage. Through the years I grew up with this show, I was also exposed sensitive topics. Things that are usually only uttered behind closed doors, but is still well and alive in our world. Things like genocide, child abuse, outright murder, war, and racism. But this show also exposed me to the solutions, how we can all work together to fix these wrongs and make things right. And I think what hit me most, in both Avatar and its sequel The Legend of Korra, was how the 'villain' was defeated. Aang did not kill Ozai, a power-hungry war monger that had slaughtered hundreds. He had spared his life. And again, in LoK, Korra did not kill Kuvira, a militant official who was trying to do the right thing using the wrong methods. Korra had instead defeated her with words. Both of these shows have impacted me immensely, and I surely wouldn't be the person I am today if I hadn't had them. So when the final episode of Avatar had aired, 9 year old me had tears streaming down her face as the camera soared up into the Ba Sing Se sunset, displaying the Chinese characters of 'THE END' on the screen. The show may have been over, but it's lessons would live on inside the people whom had been touched and uplifted and changed by it.
