If you love space. If you love drama. If you love eploration. You'll love Mars. I have to say It was made extremly well. The one thing I would say is that It feels rushed with only 6 episodes and Too little character progression and to much news like stuff. I was in the end wanting more so maby a new one about somthing else like interstelar travel or somthing would be great.

You should watch this. A really well produced and unique blend of contemporary/historical documetnary and near future drama. The pacing is inconsistent, and at times it feels like a multi-season show that compressed into a mini series. Mars' strength is that while the documentary segments provide scientifc context for the drama, the drama provides emotional context for the documentary.

I loved everything about this series. I wish there was more to see.

Passionless crew making boneheaded mistakes. No way a commander would hide his injury. No way would a redundant wheeled rover die for one broken axel. Even if it was disabled, why transport the wounded commander by hand? Send a small team carrying nothing but O2 to get the OTHER rover at the base and bring him to the base! So stupid. The show is actually depressing about going to Mars. Too bad. This should be epic. Watch Apollo 13 if you want to see how it's done, now real NASA people go about solving problems.
  • Just another failure.

Like several of these series sold by iTunes, a TV series that takes off begins to tell a story, they abruptly gets cancelled mid story, two weeks now with no continuation. I bought this one, as I did Ascension and "Defying Gravity", but this will be my last buy of a TV series from iTunes, as the disappointment is getting a bit tiresome.

This show holds you in your seat. Wondering what is next in our future moving toward another planet. This is a good show to watch. Its basd on Sci-Fi-fi drama mashed with documentary. This show makes you think whether we can go mars or any other planets.

I really enjoy the format. 1/2 fictional 1/2 nonfictional. A great watch!
  • Slow death spiral

This series started out interestingly enough and promised to be a documentary/dramatization of what it will take to go to and establish a base of human habitation on Mars. Unfortunately with each succeeding episode the story is diluted more and more with fictionalized personal human interest narrative and less and less mission related story. The monotone and downbeat narration by the defacto mission leader didn't help. I kept watching, hoping for a turnaround, but finally admitted defeat.

This show is really great, it seems many dont like the documentary meets scifi fiction. The documentary sections take the time to really tell some of the back story and ideas behind some of drivers the decisions of the scifi story. It is really unique I really look forward to seeing more.
  • Docu-Drama tv show

About 40 percent of the show is good quality original tv footage. 20min drama footage, and 25min documentary footage (new and old). This might be the first show to market with such a unique editing sequence, but it just doesn't work nicely. One reason is jumping back and forth between drama and doc is disjointed and causes the viewer to lose interest quickly. Some documentary footage seems out of place and making a 20min drama with 25min of documentary afterwards would do better to keep the viewership. As for the original drama footage, I would say it's good quality (think sci-fi channel), but there are too many monologues with people speaking into a webcam. With only 20min of footage 10min shouldn't be eaten up with an actor mumbling their feelings into a webcam. The only reason I can see such a limited amount of drama time is due to lack of money. With the right amount of money this drama could've been the usual 40min with a very interesting plot line and script. As it stands at episode 5 I see this show being really hampered by the editing and lack of length.
