  • Awesome epic fantasy series

    By O.E.K.
This is way better than I expected it to be so far. The special effects are surprisingly well done - I love the look of the evil druid and his demons. The story is moving along at a good pace and leaves you wanting to know what happens next. I also like that we have a few characters who you aren't really sure about their motives - are they going to cause trouble and if so how? The writing and acting pulled that off very well. I like the story considering the subject. Post apocalyptic, with magic and elves kinda. I prefer the former, but not the latter. Good character development. I liked the main ones and many back up. It's great having a new epic fantasy series and I hope it remains this good and goes for a long time.

We have lately been corrupted/spoiled by shows that breaks our hearts with sudden death and loss that we sometime fail to enjoy a simple show with a straight forward plot and a good vibe. This is like a feel good game of thrones :)
  • Can't wait to see more

The books are great I read them over 20 years ago. Glade to see it in film form. Is the acting compared to LOTR??? Well no... Some characters you can tell are A+ actors, other this is their beginnings. With that being said the story still pulls you in and you want to see what is next. Can't wait for more to come out. I will buy the seasons to add to my collection.
  • The writing is even worse than the source material

    By shelbyc
Ok, so, Brooks isn't know for being a brilliant writer... he all but plagiarized Tolkien outright in the novels, and his characters are cloying copies of the originals. The Elfstones book that MTV used for this series was at least best of the trilogy, but that doesn't say much. The tv series had potential in a campy fun way. A few good actors (mainly the older ones) helped drive things, and the special effects and costumes (especially demons) work great for tv. But the writing... the things they make these poor young actors say and do... I'm not sure how anyone could say some of those lines with a straight face... cheesy fantasy tv series or not, this is just bad writing... bad bad...not funny bad. Bad like a 6-year-old kid telling you about something exciting that happened at school: vague outlines of a story but lacking any substance or storytelling ability. Fail!
  • Must watch
