Description

Writer/director/producer M. Night Shyamalan returns with an original thriller that delves into the mysterious recesses of one man’s fractured, gifted mind. Though Kevin (James McAvoy) has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley), there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy, The Witch), Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him - as well as everyone around him - as the walls between his compartments shatter apart.

Saw this in theaters. Not overly impressed. I wish M. Night would return to visionary movies like Signs and Sixth Sense. Give us twists like that.

This director is back in full swing! This is a 5+ star ⭐️ movie. Kudos to the great acting here. This character could have been a joke BUT instead very believable- too much so lol. The cameo of Bruce Willis perfect placement. I do like the ending as is much better than the alternate. Definitely a must see. FYI- saw this at a friends house where she paid $7.99 for the rental. iTunes is a far better deal ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😷. The masks for a reason 😉🎥👻
  • Great surprise - not a twist - at the end!

Overall I found this to be M. Night Shyamalan's best effort since Signs (of those I've seen at least). McAvoy is a great talent and his role was a terrific opportunity which shows his range as an actor. The film's premise is a creepy one, as I can imagine the difficulty the abductees had when first discovering their abductor's various personalities - his instability could make him extremely dangerous, but might it also be used to the young womens' advantage? The mystery of the whole story hinges on whether the details emerging about the 24th personality are true, so viewers should not be surprised by the answer either way. But once we have that answer, juxtapose it with the final scene of the film and ask yourself whether the answer is consistent with the theme of the story it references. I'd say very much so. Enjoy!

James McAvoy really made a quantum leap in his known acting skills. He has been playing Professor X for a long time and it's clear that he needed to find a great story and be brilliant. The dark and disturbing undertones makes this not a PG-13 movie for most people. This story stops just before breaking the lines and showing the unseen. I have always liked M. Night. He has been in a bit of a slump; but he set a very high bar with his many memorable movies where he wrote and directed everything. The combination of a very bizarre story and finding the perfect actor has created a unique style of entertainment where you may find yourself watching this pretty harsh movie just to see some next level acting and lingering interest. 'He is on the move!!!' Etc....

If you had plans to watch this movie, don't. Instead, just sit in a warm bath, and open your veins with the sharpest razor you have. This movie was one of the worst films I have ever saw. M Night Shyamalan, I want the two hours of my life you robbed from me, you talentless hack!

McAvoy really brings the main character to life in this thriller. He is a very gifted actor and he flawlessly eases into each personality. He makes them seem so real and believable. The movie kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end and left me wanting more!
